The unintended expat blogger behind Kindle Brook Verge

Hi there, I'm Sophie
I work as a project manager. I’m a parent. I’m an expat living in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Switzerland wasn’t in our long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The opening months were demanding—new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. But gradually, routines fell into place. We found places that worked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Created Kindle Brook Verge
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Switzerland.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Real-life insights from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something substantive changes
This site ISN'T:
- A tourism authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Switzerland goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains valuable, I’ll continue documenting our findings.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
